Hurricane Matthew has been confirmed to impact central Florida on late Thursday night or early Friday morning and our contingency plan is now effective. At 11 AM EST, Orlando, FL and the Orange County area were placed under a hurricane warning.
We are taking the following actions:
- Our courier services will be suspended on Thursday, October 6th after 3:00PM.
- Samples being shipped to Orlando via FedEx on Thursday or Friday will most likely be delayed in transit. Alternate plans include; holding samples in temperature-controlled storage if sufficient hold-time remains, or diverting samples to another SGS Accutest facility that holds the necessary certifications.
- Road closures, school closures, and power interruptions will most likely occur. We will most likely have a limited staff on Friday, at best. If power is interrupted for a significant time, emergency generators will be employed to maintain sample integrity, but there will be no analysis if we are without power.
Project managers are the primary points of contact for finding the most appropriate solutions. They will be available throughout Thursday and Friday.
We encourage everyone who is within the projected path of the storm to stay alert and prepare plans for the worst case scenario. Please let us know if you have any additional concerns and we will do our best to address them.
