The SGS laboratory in Dayton, New Jersey has received a notable accreditation as part of an ongoing collaboration doing analytical work with the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD).
As of May 17, 2024, the lab has added DoD accreditation for PFAS and air analyses. Dayton meets the ISO 17025 standard while also fulfilling testing requirements as designated in DoD Quality Service Manual (QSM) 5.4.
While many forms of accreditation are attached to a particular state or geographic location, the latest DoD accreditation is not restricted to any specific states. This will enable SGS to further collaborate on working with the DoD as part of a massive cleanup effort associated with decades of Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) contamination.
This accreditation enables SGS to partner with clients seeking remediation and restoration projects more quickly. SGS is now DoD accredited for PFAS by EPA method 533 for drinking water and EPA 1633 for non-potable water and solids. In terms of air, SGS is DoD accredited under EPA T015. With numerous facilities across the continent, SGS is well-positioned to work with clients in multiple locations.
“As a network we’re continuously evaluating which geographies and what test methods to support based on evolving client needs,” said David Chastain, Industries and Environment General Manager, SGS Dayton. “The key for us is to proactively provide greater capabilities and additional options for the market.”
